Hours & Admissions

The National Butterfly Center is a private nonprofit organization. This 100-acre native plant botanical garden and wildlife preserve has been established by the North American Butterfly Association to advance our mission of education and conservation.  We are not state or federally-funded; so we rely entirely on donations and income from operations to support this wild butterfly sanctuary, in the butterfly capitol of the country!

We greatly appreciate our visitors, and hope to see you soon.

Turn-by-turn directions to the National Butterfly Center via Expressway 83:  Exit Conway, and go south, toward the Rio Grande River. Approximately 2 miles down the Conway, past the Mission Hike & Bike Trails, you will see a small, brown, highway sign on the right, indicating a right turn on Military Parkway to the National Butterfly Center. Turn right on Military Parkway and stay on this two-lane road as it rises over the sugar cane fields to the south.  When this road begins to descend, make a sharp left turn from the left-turn lane. The National Butterfly Center will be less than 1 mile down the road, past the treeline, on your left.
